National Relaxation Day – August 15, 2023

We’re BACK and ready to again jump into our Practice of Playfulness and ritual of blogging!

It’s been 2 years since we last posted. It just feels right to relaunch today on National Relaxation Day and follow it up with a dip in the pool.

During our hiatus we weren’t just lollygagging.  We sold and bought real estate, began renovations on new homes, and dove head first into exciting behavioral psychology research with pal Leslie Frazier, Ph.D. at Florida International University (FIU) and the Play Lab Team.

Over 2,025 survey participants were involved in the project.  A Master’s thesis and Doctoral dissertation were awarded alongside two published papers on Adult play and playfulness during covid and the role of play and playfulness related to learning. A third paper, “Adult Play and Playfulness: An Exploration of its Potential Meanings and Importance” has also been prepared and was recently submitted for publication.

There’s more to Practicing Playfulness through the lens of psychology than we imagined!

You may have noticed — and we hope you did —  our website has a fresh new feel!  We hope you will check it out HERE.

As we swim into the deep end of our next mental model, we are recruiting like-minded playful people and organizations to help us think and act more playfully and to develop an effective tool to encourage people to practice the activity of play more routinely.

You clearly are “like-minded” otherwise you wouldn’t have read this far.  🙂 If you like what you see we hope you pay it forward to others – with a playful perspective – who might want to join in our journey.  We are growing a universe of playful practitioners with whom we learn, play, and create the habit of practicing playfulness!!

WHEW – that’s enough! Let’s all head out – truly, outside if possible as nature is restorative and playful. Enjoy National Relaxation Day – 2023!!
