“An autumn forest is such a place that once entered you never look for the exit!” – Mehmet Murat Ildan
Walking through the woods this time of year is special if you live near trees with falling leaves.
Kicking the leaves and making piles to jump into is tons of fun. Hearing kids laugh as they take the plunge always makes me smile.
Memories of brilliant Fall colors and cool breezes billowing through the trees as they tug the leaves off and swirl about—so glorious!

And, if you have any doubt as to how freeing play in the leaves may be… just watch your dog, your neighbor’s dog, or “On The Road” with Steve Hartman as he shares how Stella the yellow lab understands everything that fall should be.
This is a special time of year: back to school, back to routines, and back to playing on the playground if you are of a “certain age.”
There’s much to embrace looking back on those younger, earlier years and pulling forward the best of our memories into the here and now.
Consider raking up a big pile of leaves and jump right in! Or, perhaps pick your own favorite Fall memory, ironing leaves on wax paper, hay rides in the fields, or finger painting in early mud puddles. These are just a few of my favorite personal memories.
Grab a memory, make it real again, and play your heart out as you Fall into Fall!
